The Inbox Monster is a vicious creature who lives in hard working peoples e-mail boxes. He feeds on stress and confusion created by an unmanageable amount of e-mails, which makes him grow. If not stopped in time, he can grow as big as Mount Everest. The tricky thing about The Inbox Monster is that he can sneak up on you. One day you don’t have time to clean your inbox to zero, and before you know it, you have a humongous monster on your hands. A monster that makes you work overtime, forget things you should have done and becoming completely stressed out.
The good news is, there is an easy way to get rid of The Inbox Monster. All you have to do is to go through you inbox. I know it feels like you don’t have the time, but trust me, it will be worth it.
Archive everything you don’t have to take action on. Rewrite things you have to do into your to do-list (and then archive them as well). Keep doing this until you have reached the magical inbox zero. Then take a few minutes to enjoy the sweet feeling of control before it becomes a new day with new monsters to fight.
